Roma mon amour

Off to Rome tomorrow – or rather Genzano and the Castelli Romani – I can't wait. I haven't been for over a year, and I haven't seen my family for some time now.

It looks like I'll miss Genzano's Infiorata (sigh) – which is happening the weekend after next. I haven't been to the Infiorata for ten or fifteen years – bad luck. On the other hand, on Saturday there will be a big family do at the Cacciatori restaurant. My uncle has worked there for over twenty years, and it's the restaurant at the top of Via Italo Belardi (see picture), where the Infiorata is laid out. I can assure you they'll take care of us. We'll have pappardelle al sugo di lepre and quaglie and all sorts of cacciagione. I'll just let you imagine that.

I'll have the new Penguin edition of Pushkin's Eugene Onegin with me, and I'll comment on it after my return to England on Sunday.
